Alicia painted this vibrant watercolor in late September 1975, just outside of the town of Northfield, Vermont, along the trout filled Dog River. If you count the wagon wheels leaning up against the beautifully painted homestead, there are a total of five. Her unique artistic vision caught the trees as if on fire with autumn color. Alicia masterfully painted the mountains and sky using stunning varying color tones and hues. The large green field with the stunning autumn treeline and the curved dirt driveway running alongside the old broken fence, make for a very warm and inviting entrance. Note that she signed the painting, Alicia Stonebreaker Connarn. She was married to Judge John Connarn, from Northfield, Vermont, for three years up until her sudden passing in 1976. She would use this signature when she painted in Vermont, away from her art studio in Brunswick, Maine.
