Watercolor

Artist Alicia J. Stonebreaker, Polish born and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts, Poznan, Poland and the Kassel Art Academy in Germany, painted this great watercolor at the Museum Of Modern Art in Mexico City, Mexico. In 1975 Alicia and her husband, Judge John Connarn, vacationed here for three weeks. Alicia painted several watercolors in Mecico City and Taxco, Mexico. Many people consider Taxco to be the most picturesque area of Mexico. Taxco (pronounced Tahs’co), is located three to four hours drive from Mexico City. The town has been declared a national historical monument to preserve the colonial architecture and heritage. Alicia once said to her son, “The people of Taxco are friendly and cheerful”.

The Museo de Arte Moderno is located in Chapultepec Park, Mexico City, Mexico. The museum is part of the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes and prepares exhibitions of national and international contemporary artists. The museum also hosts a permanent collection of art from Gelsen Gas, Frida Kahlo, Olga Costa, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, José Clemente Orozco, Manuel Álvarez Bravo, Leonora Carrington, Rufino Tamayo, Juan Soriano, and Vicente Rojo.

The Museum of Modern Art is known for having the best permanent exhibition of painters and sculptors from the modern Mexican art movement. It also features some of the most important temporary exhibitions of national and international modern art in the world. Representing the Mexican muralist movement are significant works by the three greats: Diego Rivera (1886-1957), José Clemente Orozco (1883-1949), and David Alfaro Siqueiros (1896-1974).
