St. Patrick’s Day Handmade Jewelry
Erin Go Braugh
Hello I’m Dr. Lynn Stonebreaker. I’m excited to share two of my latest creations. As St. Patrick’s Day approaches, the spirit of “Ireland Forever” fills the air. There is no better way to celebrate than with the deep, verdant greens of the Emerald Isle.
As a jeweler based here in Maine, I find constant inspiration in the intersection of heritage and the natural world. My featured piece this season is a handcrafted Malachite Necklace. It is designed to capture the essence of the Irish landscape. This necklace features an abundance of genuine malachite beads, each showcasing unique, swirling patterns of forest and lime green. To add texture and a touch of the artisanal, I have incorporated two hand-selected ceramic glazed beads. These beads complement the stones’ natural luster.
At the heart of this piece hangs an intrinsically decorated silver Celtic Cross. The Celtic cross is a powerful symbol, representing the bridge between the celestial and the earthly. The intersecting lines signify the four directions. Meanwhile, the encompassing circle represents the eternal nature of life and a love that has no beginning and no end.
Beyond its beauty, Malachite is a stone of immense power. Spiritually, it is known as the “Stone of Transformation,” helping the wearer clear negative energy and embrace change with courage. Regarding health, practitioners often associate malachite with physical detoxification and the soothing of joints.
Whether you are marching in a parade or enjoying a quiet moment of reflection, these pieces are designed to bring a bit of Irish magic and protection to your journey.
Erin Go Braugh: A Shimmer of Luck
Here is my second creation for the St. Patrick’s Holiday, titled, Shimmering Crystal and Green Necklace.
While my first piece focused on the deep, earthy greens of malachite, this creation is all about the play of light. The centerpiece is a stunning, large green multifaceted Swarovski clover. Swarovski crystals are world-renowned for their precision-cut facets. This clover is no exception—it catches the light from every angle. As a result, it mimics the vibrant glow of the Irish countryside after a spring rain.
Design Details
This necklace is designed to be both elegant and whimsical. To complement the central clover, I’ve used:
• Iridescent faceted crystals in multiple sizes, which create a “bubbly” effect that dances as you move.
• Vibrant green crystal accents interspersed throughout the strand to pull the theme together.
• A delicate silver lace toggle clasp, ensuring that the piece is as beautiful from the back as it is from the front.
The Symbolism of the Clover
Beyond its association with luck, the clover (or shamrock) has deep roots in Irish tradition. Legend says St. Patrick used the three leaves of the shamrock to explain the Trinity. Even before that, it was seen as a sacred plant that signaled the arrival of spring. This particular four-leaf variety adds that extra “find” of good fortune to your holiday ensemble.
Whether you’re dressing up for a gala or adding a festive touch to a casual sweater, this necklace brings a sophisticated sparkle to your St. Paddy’s Day celebrations.
