Watercolor

This beautiful watercolor painting by Alicia was completed in the kitchen of the famous Margaret Holland Inn in Northfield, Vermont. Alicia met her second husband, the late Honorable Judge John Connarn, here at the Inn on Norwich University Parents Weekend in Sept., 1970. The well known and respected Judge lived at the Inn and was also the Inn keeper. Alicia's son, William, was beginning his freshman year at Norwich University in 1970. Alicia arrived in Northfield on the Friday before Parents’ Weekend after a long four hour drive from Brunswick, Maine. She drove through the town of Northfield and decided to stop and inquire about a room at the Margaret Holland Inn. The Judge met Alicia at the front door entrance and they immediately fell in love together, having dinner and talking well into the night.

If this spectacular Glenwood stove could talk, it would have many beautiful memories to reveal. The old fashioned kitchen at the inn was a focal point for activity and visiting friends. This painting is a stunning example of the incredible depth of talent possessed by Alicia. There are many people who will view this striking artwork and recall their great moments with friends at the Margaret Holland Inn. When the Judge would visit Alicia in Maine on most weekends, her son, William, and a group of close Norwich University cadets would always have this Woodstove blazing to keep the Inn warm and cozy.
