Watercolor

This soft and beautiful watercolor by Alicia Stonebreaker was painted near Hen Cove in Harpswell, Maine. Nearby Cundy's Harbor is Maine's oldest commercial lobstering village (since 1841). This scenic area is home to Pemaquid Point, one of the most visited spots in the state of Maine, very popular among artists and photographers. The point was the site of many shipwrecks throughout the centuries, and contains the Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, which was built in 1897. Alicia was masterful at capturing the differing hues of the calm bay wateras and she painted her realistic seagulls gliding across the foggy sky. Her stunning talent and ability to paint fog drifting through the island trees and far distance is a trademark of her watercolor paintings.
