Pencil Sketch

Artist Alicia J. Stonebreaker, Polish born and trained at the Academy of Fine Arts, Poznan, Poland and the Kassel Art Academy in Germany, sketched this seascape of Lookout Point, Maine in Feb. 10, 1974. Lookout Point, near Alicia’s art studio in Brunswick, Maine, is in the town of Harpswell . Observe how skillfully Alicia sketched the deep perspective of the long view through the bay. Her technique for drawing the boat lying on the beach and the weather beaten tress on the rocks is free flowing but also precise and masterful. Her use of dark lines and soft lines define the tree line in the background across the tidal water. Alicia would paint and draw “on scene” and outdoors during winter months in Maine. She was very dedicated to her love and passion for painting, teaching fine art to all age groups, public speaking, and promoting her students through art shows and education.

The town of Harpswell is located on the coast of Maine south of Brunswick, Maine heading south on Route 24. It is comprised of a peninsular jutting south into the Atlantic Ocean and three islands connected by land bridges. The islands are Great Sebascodegan Island, Orr's Island and Bailey Island. Put this beautiful location on your bucket list to check out. Only the hardy (with an L.L. Bean down coat) will have the courage to visit during the winter months.
